Most parents in Indonesia always give this advice to their kids. It is not wrong; carrot is one of the vegetables that contain high levels of vitamin A, lutein, and zeaxanthin. They have antioxidants that could minimize the risk of eye diseases such as night blindness and cataract.
Nasehat ini sering disampaikan banyak orang tua di Indonesia. Tidak ada salahnya, wortel memang salah satu sayuran yang kaya akan vitamin A lutein dan zeaxanthin memiliki sifat antioksidan yang dapat meminimalkan resiko terjadinya penyakit mata seperti rabun senja hingga katarak.

Orang-orang Belanda juga lah yang juga membawa wortel ke Indonesia. Umbian ini tumbuh baik didataran tinggi dengan suhu antara 15 hingga 21 derajat.

One of the locations where carrots grow well is Rurukan in Tomohon, North Sulawesi. This area is located on the slopes of Mount Mahawu, which can be reached in around 1 hour from Manado, the capital city of North Sulawesi. The best time to go there is in the morning, when we can see the farmers tilling their land. However, don’t come on Sunday, as Rurukan is really quiet because most farmers go to church.
